Before he contacted me to be the DJ/MC at his wedding, Matt was already like family to me because I was the DJ/MC at his sister's reception in 2001 and also at this cousin's wedding in 1998. Matt remembered and loved the way I gave the bridal party a brief coaching session just before I introduced them into the reception. I wanted to make sure their grand entrance was upbeat to increase the fun and excitement for the bride, groom and audience.
Matt, Virginia and I had the added challenge of distance separating us during the year leading up to their wedding. We took advantage of e-mail and conference calls to exchange information and share their vision of the wedding. Knowing his family really well I was confident that another great Isble family celebration was inevitable. The incredible weather over the holiday weekend made for a spectacular outside ceremony on the lawn in front of the mansion. I played really upbeat background tunes in The Parlors and by the time we shifted into the ballroom everyone was pumped up for a great dinner and party.
Matt and Virginia chose one of my long time favorite venues, Ralston Hall Mansion for both their ceremony and reception. If you have never been there before, it is a must see on the San Francisco Peninsula. It has a sprawling front lawn, impressive entrance, great space for the cocktail hour and a dramatic grand ballroom. From the moment the bridal party made their grand entrance the energy level stayed high all the way until Matt and Virginia made a great departure in the coolest getaway car I've ever seen. They exited in a car called Daisey Singer that was created by one of Matt's groomsmen, Philo Northrup. I did an entire blog post about the car that you can read by CLICKING HERE.
Another first at Matt and Virginia's wedding was working with their photographer, the very talented Marla Christina. It was a pleasure to work with Marla and I love how her images captured the true spirit of the party. Please enjoy these photos of Matt and Virginia's celebration.
